1. How much waste does one person make a day?
About 4.6 pounds (2.1 kilograms) per day per person.

2. Of all waste created, what percentage is recycled or used as compost?
About 32.5 percent

3. In the US, how much trash is thrown into landfills?
about About 251 million tons (228 million metric tons) per year


4. What is the difference between a dump and a landfill?
an open hole in the ground where trash is buried and that has various animals (rats, mice, birds) swarming around and a dump designed structure built into or on top of the ground in which trash is isolated from the surrounding environment.

5. Why is the flow of water near a landfill important?
The area of land necessary for the landfill

6. When a landfill is built, why does there have to be so much extra land surrounding the actual landfill? What is this for?
the operators have to make sure that they follow certain steps. In most parts of the world, there are regulations that govern where a landfill can be placed and how it can operate.

7. Consider - considering how much trash Americans produce each year, what do you think are some potential problems that we may encounter?
People throw the trash on the streets some people are too duty and that is one of tha causes why it so mucho trah now and days.
